Solid 4 star maybe more and whyI smoked a Toro this morning which was included in the Fugazi 8 pack COTY Sampler.
They were on Spesh recently and I scooped up 3 of samplers. Yeah, I know, I should have bought more.
Get ready, here comes the controversy. For as long as Padron has been making their high end super premium stuff, I've tried and tried to like them. Over all these years I've tried most a couple three times. I've never been able to smoke an entire one. In fact, most I don't even get to the 1/4 smoked mark.
They're always very well made. They always look fantastic, and they always draw and burn well. Here's my issue. In every on I've smoked no matter the size I get a strange and off putting flavor that overwhelms everything about the cigar. It's easy to describe too. I taste (very strongly) a flavor that's akin to the aroma/ smell of a number 2 lead pencil being sharpened way back in grade school. It's very distinct for me. It's also very distinct for my good friend who owns a great cigar shop near me. We came to this conclusion 20 years ago or so. The flavor is so strong, I simply can't smoke the high end Padron stuff. I'll say this has to be on me, because most guys I know do backflips in rush hour traffic every time they score a box of high end Padron cigars
The Fugazi version of the 1964 thankfully doesn't have this same weird flavor to me. Instead I got a nice mix of light spices with just a hint of pepper. This Fugazi also smoked nicely too. Good draw and burn all the way through. Medium bodied, pleasant to smoke, and I'd buy these again on a Spesh for sure. They're not my favorite Fugazi, but they rate well enough for me to rebuy.
Final note, I'm not missing Padron by any means. In fact, during the height of the first cigar boom, I scored 3 boxes of Padron 3000 Maduro Toros. To this day, all these years later, they were one of the most memorable and tasty cigars I've ever smoked in my 40+ years of daily cigar smoking.
The Fugazi 1964 is a good honest and well made cigar. The fact that it's not exactly like the 1964 was a huge bonus for me. For you say they come close, I'm happy to hear that. The whole Fugazi line is a really cool project. Some are flat out world class cigars, others not so much. Thanks Team CP for the great Spesh on the COTY Sampler.

Comes Close
It is a bit fuller body and stronger flavors than the Padron. Every aspect is very good ... construction, draw, burn, tasty. It stays cool and is very smooth. The Fugazi I've had have improved with a few months in the humidor. I believe these will also. I am happy with my purchase.

So toasty
Actually really impressed on that unique toasty flavors Fugazi Padron brings to the table. This cigar hit it and kept it through the whole cigar. I was half expecting the first 3rd to make an appearance then be ruined rest of the way with a knock off label cheapening the last 2/3rds, but it held through like a champ.

I’m a huge Padron fan so l thought I’d give these knock-offs a try. Burned very evenly, great smoke output, and awesome taste. I will definitely buy again!
