Very Nice
Another beauty from a sampler . Lovely cigar . Great smoke , solid feel , well constructed cigar . Try some . Review by Ted on 3/14/2024Thank you
I’m in my late 70’s and have smoked cigars for 55+years
I love maduro, double maduro, Sun grown and broadleaf wrapped cigars
Somehow I latched on to Honduran produced robusto box pressed boutique brands
I recently began purchasing Penn Standard broadleaf sticks in various configurations and simply love these smokes
Thank you for bringing these beauties to market
My son and my grandsons enjoy cigars with me and rate Penn Standard among their favorits as well Review by Paulie on 3/8/2024Different Taste
This was grabbed as a sampler for price , and to try new sticks . Happy I grabbed this one . Solid construction , great ash , billows of smoke , draw a touch tighter than I like , but not horrible . The flavors throughout were changing , and delicious. Go get a five pack of these babies . I will grabbing more of these when i need a refill of my humidor . Review by Ted on 3/3/2024Tasty Treats
This is the second to the last cigar in my 10 pack Raymond Pages sampler. This was a toro sized stick with a mild box press. Burn was even and slow, draw was in the pocket. I found this cigar to medium body at most. Lighter than I was expecting and lighter than Conn. broadleaf to my tastebuds. Earthy, coffee, mild black pepper spice. It was consistent and without any major flavor transitions. Straightforward and without notable complexity, this is just a pleasant and tasty smoke. I would think it's versatile good in the morning or evening after a meal. Solid B. Review by Mr. Greg on 2/23/2024Not a JohnnyBluez Novel, he used up all my words
Great. Like all cigars, longer in well maintained humidor, the better.
REAL CONNECTICUT VALLEY BROADLEAF. USA! USA!
Great smoke. Those who Pooh Poohed them I can’t agree with.

Vary good definitely worth picking up and trying out Review by kyle on 12/17/2023Nice
This is a nice, easy Maduro. I don't get any cinnamon....just a good, earthy, leathery, slightly woody / coffee taste. Very nicely constructed, with a great burn . It's smooth, yet rich, so it has a satisfying feel. No sweetness really, but there is a little spice. Not much complexity, but no harshness either....or weird barnyard notes. I don't need a cigar to taste like the bottom of a horse stall, so I appreciate the lack of it in this stick! Overall, a very decent smoke at discounted prices. Review by Gstand on 12/8/2023A revisit after smoking my 300th Penn Standard
Let me start with a numerical score versus the stars. I'm giving this brand a solid 93. Since the day they became available here, I've been ordering them steadily. My last order, pre Black Friday was for 4 boxes (15 count) of the Mysterium Tremendum aka a 7*52 Churchill. The vast majority of my Penn Standard orders were for the 6 cigar sampler. I love being able to smoke all the available sizes and making note of the flavor profile differences due to size. I want to make it clear, my two favorite sizes are the 6*60 Gordo and the 7*52 Churchill.
Something that I've personally experienced with these is that 2 to 4 months of rest in the humidor prior to smoking is an immense help. Don't get me wrong, these smoke really well right off the truck too. That extra aging time just allows this beautiful blend to marry together more. The end result is a slightly more complex flavor profile and they're also a bit smoother.
Overall, I can count on one hand the number of Penn Standards I've smoked that had a tight draw and or a bad burn. Out of 300 cigars, that's a spectacular track record. As with any maduro wrapped cigar, the wrapper color can vary from a medium oily dark, to a super deep and extra oily dark brown. If I could choose, I'd opt for the darker wrappers all the time. That's not to say the slightly lighter colored wrappers are in any way bad. I just found the super dark wrapped cigars had a slight notch more flavor. I am constantly amazed at how razor sharp these burn. The ash on most of mine has been almost pure white and solid. That's a sign of high quality in my book. I'm a daily cigar smoker for 40 plus years and I have my own book of rules. LOL
The Penn Standard has a really classic flavor profile that is a pretty constant and steady treat. They start with a nice burst of spices, some of the baking variety, some woodiness, and of course some nice white pepper. As I smoke them down, they build in flavor and often times pick up a vanilla, chocolate, and coffee taste on top of the initial flavors. This is a cigar that no matter when I'm going to light one up, I truly look forward to it. I'm a huge fan of the Pa. Broadleaf wrapper and have been for 20 odd years. When they're done right, they're simply delicious and really eye candy to grumpy old cigar guys like me.
Now this next part is usually something I really don't care about at all. However, in this case, it needs to be said. The packaging in the 20 count boxes is very simple, yet elegant enough to present as a gift to a guy or gal who really likes good cigars. The ring/band on the cigar is really a great presentation. The color blend used on the band, the size of it, and the fonts used just scream simple yet classy. When I'm gifting cigars I always try to pick a cigar or box of cigars that's tasty as heck and presents well. These accomplish both with ease. The time and effort along with the creativity on the packaging and band is very obvious. In summation, these Penn Standard cigars are 100% in my top 3 new cigars for 2023, even though they may have actually hit in late 22. Hey, details my arsh. LOL I highly recommend them to anyone who likes a cigar that starts out nice and medium and slowly and elegantly builds up to a medium plus bodied smoke with oodles of flavor. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the pre light aroma. Oh my heavens, I don't know what Raymond Pages secret is, but a few of his cigars, especially this one has a very unique and inviting pre light aroma. The perfect amount of barnyard, a very nice hint of natural wild flowers. and some nice nuances of cedar. Up until I tried these, I'd never experienced this aroma from any cigar in my life.
During the most recent Black Friday/Cyber Monday CP had a great deal on an 8 count sampler that happened to include 2 Penn Standard Gordos. along with 2 each of 3 different Raymond Pages made cigars including another favorite, the Hoofty. I scooped up 5 or 6 of them. I turned several of my cigar buds onto these and 95% of them loved the cigar. That's a pretty telling sign.
Solid cigar, super tasty, great packaging, gorgeous wrappers, awesome construction, and best of all, CigarPage pricing. The world is neck deep in a gazillion over priced, over hyped, and under performing cigars right now. This cigar makes all that other nonsense just fly by totally unnoticed by yours truly.
2024 is going to be an interesting year. I look forward to what CP and Ray Pages cook up.
Random Musings over....Cheers
excuse any typos or bad structure, I just shipped this up here while watching MNF and smoking a Penn Standard Gordo. (Yeah, I multi task too, incredible) Review by JohnnyBluez on 12/4/2023Hickory and cinnamon
Hickory and cinnamon lead on the retro hale, lacks in sweetness. .... It leaves a very light and clean cinnamon note on the palate after it's done, but won't wow you. Review by Myron on 9/14/2023Penn Standard Box Pressed Magnum 54 (6.5x54)
Beautiful dark, veiny wrapper. Soft box press. The band is eye-catching with the gold and blue contrast. Neat detail with the batch number, lot, and crop.
First impressions: natural sweetness, smooth retrohale. This cigar tastes like America. Holds ash like a champ. Should you smoke this? Yes! The big beast of broadleaf has earned a spot in my humidor. Review by William on 9/5/2023Great Smoke
Brought the 12 cigar sampler... smoked 3-4 so far and gave 2 away... wish I hadn't given 2 away because these are a great smoke... they pack a punch but not a knock you out for the rest of the day punch.. more of a 2nd round of a 12 round heavyweight fight punch. Review by KJ on 8/14/2023Meh, Whatever
Not best representation of the PA Broadleaf. This cigar has a dry flavor, especially during the 1st third. Needs more balanced filler to compliment the wrapper. Review by Steve on 7/12/2023Penn Standard Churchill
Firm and uniform throughout. Pre light aroma, classic barnyard and cedar, with slight floral like notes. Great draw, even burn, holds a long ash. The wrapper is straight up sexxy. PA Broadleaf is my choice for Broadleaf. Flavor profile: Dark chocolate, coffee, pepper, and cedar. Smokes really well. Nice long finish and what a GREAT ASH. What's not to love? Bought some Penn standards. Beautiful sweetness, earth, leather, medium strength full body Review by Sumamormy on 6/26/2023Penn Standard Torpedo
Storage humidity: 65%
Dry-box time: 36h
Pre-light: Perfect draw, firm construction, smells of PA Amish country.
Opening notes: mellow white pepper, mild sweetness, mild coffee
Middle notes: mellow white pepper, graham cracker, cedar, and coffee
Finish notes: strong coffee, brown sugar, cedar
This is a unique and well-constructed cigar with no harshness. It is medium-bodied throughout with a medium-full finish.
Review by Sam on 6/11/2023Mr
Perfect draw. Even burn with firm white ash. To my individual taste buds flavor comes through nicely without being overwhelming; notes of cream, bread, cashews, mild spice (not pepper) and sweetness without being sweet, per se. Gave one to a friend who buys regularly from Da Page and he said it one was one of THE best cigars from this site that he has tried, and he has tried many. Coming in at around $5 per stick, the Penn kicks the ass of some cigars I've tried at 2-3 times the price. If your hesitant, stop thinking about it and add it to your cart. Review by Brian on 4/15/2023Solid Cigars
These are solid cigars. The price makes them solid everyday cigars. Review by Drog on 3/8/2023These are good with a month in your humidor
I didn't enjoy the first couple but kept an open mind as some new cigars might need a little more aging to finish fermenting. It's a nice surprise now as the cocoa and leather nuances stand out moreso than before. Review by Poolplayer on 3/1/2023Short update on my original review
The Edmundo is my favorite size. I've tried the 6*60 and the 46 ring gauge size as well. To me, the perfect balance is in the Edmundo. It smokes really well, lasts a solid hour, and just delivers and checks all the boxes I like. Medium bodied, maybe a tad more? Solid balance, always well made, and the packaging when purchased by the box is impressive. I usually don't give a shyte about packaging, but the designers of this box and how the cigars are presented really deserve a shout out. This has become a favorite for me as I've made my way through 4 or 5 boxes. Highly recommended for maduro fans who like some stuffing in their stogies. This is a straight up winner Review by John Bluez on 2/25/2023I like surprises!
Dear Penn, Where have you been all my life. A dark beauty that I could pour over a plate of buttermilk pancakes. I find Broadleaf wrappers to yield either smoky, bitter or a sweet lingering footprint. “Clark, she’s a Beaut.” as to balance. Review by Thomas on 2/24/2023"You guys done good"
I've smoked my way through 4 or 5 boxes of Penn Standards in 3 sizes. The Edmundo is my favorite with the Gordo a second. The 46 ring size, didn't lift my skirt. The packaging on the Penn Standard is nice to give a good buddy a box with no hesitation. You guys done good. Review by BearPaw on 2/24/2023Penn Standard Colada is Box Worthy!
I have loved Diesel Corona's for a long time - but they have become harder to find and may have been discontinued... This cigar, while not exactly the same, makes for a fantastic, and somewhat smoother, substitute... In fact, I would say that it is superior in that it is never overpowering or harsh, nor does it deliver any objectionable tastes - even all the way down to the nub. Great flavors - the well-aged and toothy Pennsylvania wrapper contributes it's unique essence to fillers possessing unmistakable Nicaraguan sweetness and Honduran spice... Goes well with a nice cup of Columbian coffee... It would likely also pair extremely well with a dark rum or a dark rum and coke cocktail... The box presentation is classic, simple, and beautiful - and upon opening the box - the dark cigars wrapped with a blue ribbon are a feast for the eyes. TCT. Review by TheCasualTorcedor on 2/1/2023No Brainer
Avo costs have risen into the stratosphere. $7-$8 whsl for the brand is F'n nuts. 3 or 4 Penn Standards for the price of one Avo.....no brainer. Review by Brando on 1/20/2023Another 1st timer
A toro from the sampler pack. This one had a stem in the construction hanging on to the ash after it burned just to remind me. It didn't seem to affect the taste though. Medium to full with something nice that I couldn't really identify separating the overall flavors from typical Nicaraguan sticks. It may have been the Honduran tobacco in the blend. Solid ash over an inch etc. Over all I liked this one and am looking forward to smoking the next one in my sampler! Give it a try!! Review by m. on 1/17/2023Good, But Not Consistent
Bought a box of these a few months ago, and while some of the cigars smoked have been enjoyable, I've had some where the burn and draw have been disappointing. If I were to rate these cigars on the flavor profile alone, these would be great, and I appreciate the aged Pennsylvania Broadleaf, but I've encountered issues with burn and draw.... Review by Matt on 12/5/2022An Easy Grand Slam
I don't even know where to begin. I'll start off with something I rarely notice or even care about. The packaging on this cigar is simple, yet really elegant. When I slid the very nicely laser engraved (I think?) top from the box, my eyes did a double take. Rarely do I open a new box of cigars and think to myself, holy sh*t, these cigars are stunning!! I did this time. I was so impressed with the rich and deep dark brown wrappers, I thought maybe the lighting was weird. I checked them out again under 3 different light sources, yep, they're that great looking. They come individually cello'd with an additional cello band holding the 20 cigars perfectly in position in the box. They finish that with a cool dark blue ribbon that sort of matches the super cool bands.
The cigar: Edmundo 5.5x54 The construction, just about perfect. As mentioned, the Pa. Broadleaf Wrapper is easily the best of this variety I've ever seen. There's not a single imperfection on the wrappers of the 2 I've smoked so far. The cigar is heavy in the hand and rolled so firmly that I thought for sure, this is going to be a tight draw. The cigar is uniform throughout with not even minor bumps or big veins showing up. The coloration of the wrapper is so even, I was blown away. It almost looks like whoever made these cigars was doing so for a photo shoot. The pre-light wrapper aroma was a nice mix of mild barnyard, various spices, and some cedar. I put some ignis to the foot and it was on. Right from the first puff, this cigar tasted great. I got very nice flavors of white pepper, dark chocolate, cedar, and some nutmeg. The flavor profile is delicious to my taste buds. They didn't change all the way down to the nub. The burn was 100% razor sharp and dead even from the start to the very end. The ash left behind is almost white, as in just a notch lower, maybe off white. The finish on the cigar lingers for a while and for me, that's a good thing. I do have one slight gripe which I attribute to smoking two of them on the same day they arrived. The first inch or so doesn't produce the volume of smoke I'm used to and enjoy. I thought for a minute, damn, these are going to tunnel on me. As a wise man once told me, patience grasshopper. Sure enough, after that first inch everything was 100% awesome. At no point did this cigar not deliver great flavors, nor did it ever get too hot all the way down to the nub.
In conclusion, this is a great cigar, a world class cigar. I've smoked every "super premium"cigar in the mass market in multiples. I can't say the same for those niche market "traditional" cigars that come out in limited quantities. I've been at this "hobby" for 40 years, and it's rare for me to go even 24 hours without a couple (4 to 6) cigars per day. This cigar to me, is rolled better, looks better, tastes better, and is presented better than 95% of those so called "super premiums" that cost me 4 to 8 times more than these. I'm not trying to knock the upper tier category at all. I've smoked many I've truly loved. That said, to me, not a single one of them was worth what I paid. Yes, I'm kinda frugal. Anyway, this cigar is on the upper side of medium bodied and what I would describe is full flavored. It smokes very well, is always smooth, and delivers close to perfection in a very well balanced cigar. I'm so happy that Andy D suggested I try these. I'm putting these in the rotation. I'm also really happy that the powers that be decided to price these very fairly. If you're one of the people who only smokes the "rare air" stuff, I highly recommend trying these. In fact, I'd recommend these to anyone who enjoys a maduro cigar. It's truly a great new brand. Keep the prices fair boys, please. Great service from CP too. Review by John Bluez on 12/3/2022The NEW Standard has been set!
This blend sets a new standard, pun intended! I've enjoyed my fair share of stogies featuring PA wrappers since I live in the state & worked for one of the largest cigar distributors for many years. (I'm no longer in the biz but, still enjoy a fine cigar as often as I can.)
Purchased a 5-pack of Coladas as soon as they were available, mainly because, I knew this size would showcase the aged PA wrapper employed on this cigar. Before even lighting up, this beaut looks & smells amazing, enticing me to fire up ASAP.
Upon toasting the foot, as described, I smell a sweet hickory aroma. Love at first puff! This flavor bomb reminds me of some of the great PA wrapped cigars I've had over time but, there's something more, balance. The strength is medium to slightly full body with stellar construction. Solid ash & even burn all the way to the nub.
Sign me up for more of this mouthwatering morsel! Will def be ordering again!! Review by JB from Easton, PA on 11/5/2022Packs a punch
90 min smoke. The cigar surprisingly packs a wallop, so i suggest to take it a bit slow. Nice burn but the ash is a but flaky. No harshness, medium to mild spicy flavors. Good for a long sit outside or long car ride. The wrapper holds up nice too. Review by Bruce on 11/3/2022Penn Standaed
This cigar is a home run in my opinion. Beautiful Penn Broadleaf wrapper combined with 8 year aged tobaccos. Smooth but big flavors with spice and sweetness on the finish. Great draw and even burn. No touchups required. This cigar is going in my regular rotation....Keep them in stock. Review by Rob on 10/30/2022
