The Gentleman’s Ember
Appearance & Construction
The Oliva Serie G comes dressed in a silky, medium-brown Cameroon wrapper with minimal veins and a slightly toothy texture. It’s firmly packed with excellent craftsmanship—consistent throughout the stick with a neat cap and clean seams.
Cold Draw & Pre-Light
On the cold draw, there’s a touch of dried fruit and cedar, with a faint nuttiness that hints at what’s to come. Lighting up is effortless, and it quickly develops a steady burn and clean draw.
First Third: Right off the bat, it delivers a smooth blend of cedar, roasted nuts, and a touch of spice. There’s a creaminess to the smoke that rounds out the woodsy character.
Second Third: The spice mellows, giving way to a warm, earthy base with hints of coffee and leather. The nutty core deepens—think almonds or even hazelnuts.
Final Third: Rich and balanced, the finish offers a more pronounced coffee note, a return of subtle pepper, and a lingering sweetness that keeps it interesting down to the nub.
Performance
Burn line stays sharp with a sturdy white ash. The draw is near perfect—neither too tight nor loose. Smoke output is satisfying and aromatic.
Drink Pairing: A medium-bodied bourbon matches the Oliva G beautifully. The bourbon’s notes of caramel, vanilla, and toasted oak complement the cigar’s nutty and woody profile. Its mild spice enhances the subtle pepper in the cigar without overpowering
Final Thoughts
The Oliva Serie G is a consistent, well-balanced smoke that punches above its price point. It’s great for both seasoned smokers and newcomers looking to explore the nuances of a Cameroon-wrapped cigar. Pair it with a smooth bourbon like and you’ve got yourself a relaxing and flavorful evening. Review by lavaspill on 4/25/2025Great cigar

Nice subtle blend that just work. Creamy, cedar, mocha, nutty spice blend. None overpower the other come together in slight hints almost mild Review by Geoff on 3/1/2024Wood Dirt Earth Cream
I let this BoxPressed G sit for about 3 months in the humi.
Today I smoked it with a v cut and lit it with a soft flame butane lighter. Paired with a Real Sugar Pepsi.
You can make this cigar. Take a paper bag and put some backyard dirt in it. Shake well and empty. Trim into a wrapper and shave a number 2 pencil into a small pile. Roll it up, cut it, and light. Viola, you now have a Oliva Serie G.
Earth lovers will seriously enjoy this stick. I gave it 4 stars bc the construction was immaculate, burn line razor sharp, and had a 2 inch strong ash before I couldn't take the dirty wood finish any longer.
The "hardwood floor" of cigars just isn't in my flavor range but otherwise is a solid smoke. Going past the flavor profile and aftertaste I did not like, the stick put out plenty of dry woody, creamy, earthy smoke that anyone who likes that profile will seriously favor this stick. Nice construction and burn, and it delivers exactly what it says: spice, leather, earth and cream. It's a good smoke, but my only criticism is that it tends to leave an undesirable after taste...the finish can be a bit crude periodically, but not all of the time. Other than that, I enjoyed the blend. Review by Gstand on 11/11/2023This review is ONLY for the "Special G" size
Man, I love me a rare, as special size or shape smoke...but NOT the Oliva Special G!!!
Sorry, but this one's a bitter, hot burning dud!
...and I love the other size G's. Review by Chris on 10/17/20232020 (3 years age from box purchase)
Pre light: aroma of old leather and heavy barnyard. Slight sweetness in the form or dark cocoa. Cut was nice and easy with a good draw tasting of old hay and leather. Inviting and welcoming to say the least.
First impressions/puffs: sharp but manageable spice with loads of heavy strong coffee, dark chocolate and black tea with a thick creamy finish.
First third: sharp spice quickly softened up to a buttery toasted sourdough slice with a dark slightly sweetened coffee roasting over a smoky campfire right outside a horse stable with the barnyard notes reminding you of the Cameroon wrapper. Aroma is sharp and dark, interestingly inviting yet harsh in its own right. Retrohale gives pleasant bursts of the palate with sharp sweet punches of maple whisky and buttered toast.
Second third: Adding to the layers we have some fruit developing I can’t put my finger on but I wanna say apricot jam on an open fire toasted piece of wheat bread. Actually on the retrohale it’s a more definite banana note than anything. The buttery notes are gaining a bacon grease thing that I’m quite happy with. Sweet bbq smoke with hay/horse stable is the theme of the second third. Ash is very dark and toothy, holding on strong and hasn’t fallen as of 30min into the smoke (pic is from this stage)
Final third: Ash fell at the 32 min mark and the flavor exploded again, still all the same great notes just got juicier, creamier and more mouth coating. I love this sharp, sweet, direct smoky mesquite smoked pork note that keeps getting stronger along with the fruit notes that have turned more floral, almost tasting like how roses smell with the retrohale getting more rounded out and aromatic almost reminding me of a hookah lounge but still holding onto that rustic barnyard/ bbq over an open campfire note rooting the whole experience. Hints of butterscotch and molasses coming thru on the little puffs building up to the big one to hold in and chew on, chewing will bring more of that molasses/burnt sugar out thru the rustic earthy notes.
Nub stage: oh the savory gravy that is the smoke coming from this cigar. Even in its final form she’s just absolutely attacking my senses. Thick, spicy (not harsh), creamy smoke radiating rich dark bourbon, black coffee, honey barbecue, southern smokehouse, black cherry and blackberry jam. Dark and loud. Penetrating flavor and aroma with heavy finish that lingers like a beer fart in the best possible way. Such a clash of dark offensive soul penetrating flavors accompanied with sharp, sweet and inviting notes that makes me want this cigar to never end. Second ash fell at the 1 hour and 2 minute mark. Got it on the nub poker and the dark chocolate is coming back thru and it just keeps delivering the dark, earthy, sweet creamy spice.
Smoke time: 1 hour 19min (4.5” x 50)
Overall, I need to grab a G off the shelf to see how much the age contributed to this experience because if a non aged G is half as good as this was then it’s still worth grabbing a box just to fly through as a more than solid daily smoke. Especially for being a smaller vitola, it went thru 3-4 distinct changes/enhancements in flavor and aroma all while staying more than enjoyable and interesting. Burned very well with minimal corrections and never once even thought about going out. Also has a good nicotine content, I know we do this for the flavor but let’s be honest, I love a nice nicotine glow after a good cigar and this one certainly provided.
I’m giving this one an 8.5/10. Wasn’t the best cigar I’ve ever had but far from the worst and I’d consider this a box worthy line for anyone that enjoys Cameroon wrappers.
Thanks for reading this all the way though sorry if this was too wordy, I just really love smoking cigars and trying to put how they make me feel onto paper. Cheers cigar friends! Happy puffing! Review by ThumpGlass102 on 8/14/2023Such a great cigar
Great smoke, love the draw and aroma. Very creamy leathery flavor. Underrated cigar honestly Review by Armando on 2/22/2023Nub Cameroon's cousin
Just a tad spicier than the Nub Cameroon but not unpleasantly so. Review by J. on 5/29/2020
