Last of My Kind
The Last of My Kind corona was a delicious cigar that performed great. A treat.
Main profile was sweet, whole wheat bread, black pepper, and hearty, lightly roasted vegetables. The mouthfeel was smooth… only slightly drying. This cigar tasted great in the mouth and the nose. Body was just a touch above medium in my opinion. The smoke leans towards the sweet, salty, and acidic side, while bitterness is more subdued. This cigar was in the 95th percentile for me. Pretty dang good so far. I’d buy it again, possibly even a box because they’re so beautiful Review by Crossbones on 1/24/2024Last of My Kind Sigma, 3 1/2 stars
I've tried some of the Raymond Pages sticks and have come to the conclusion that none rate over 4 stars IMHO. Overall considering the pricing, they are all worth a taste or 2. Nothing less than 3 stars for me. I'm planning on buying most again, when looking for specials etc. Here goes... Buena Vista 4 stars, Record Bond Edicion Limitada, BDL - Liga 5 Maduro, BDL - Liga 12 Habano, Last of My Kind, Megilla. All quite smokable and I generally find a couple in my rotations. Considering the build and smoking quality along with the Raymond Pages flavor characteristics of his cigars and CP's great pricings, they are all worth a shot at least! Well, that's my 2 cents. Review by m. on 1/24/2024These my cigar of the year.
I bought into all the pre sale hype on these by Brandon and crew. When they got here I smoked a few right away. Right away I thought to myself these are super tasty and pretty well made. I laid them down for a short nap. Smoked a few more after that. What a huge difference that short nap made. I wrote a review on CP and called these my cigar of the year. Just weeks later the Record Bond Edicion Limitada came out. I lean towards maduro with San Andres and PA Broadleaf being my favorite wrappers. The RBEL sports a true Ct. Broadleaf wrapper and oh my, they're gorgeous. As it turns out I actually liked the RBEL a notch more than the LOMK. Both wonderful and tasty smokes, but the RBEL is just a tad more to my taste. Can't wait to see what Raymond and the crew over there come up with next. My only suggestion, don't be scared to add more ligero in something coming down the line. Cheers guys. I never ever write reviews but I just had to for this cigar! It's amazing! Get yourself 3-4 boxes of these bad boys! I smoke'em constantly!! You won't be disappointed! Boy oh boy do I just love Cigar Page! Well done boys! Review by HOG on 1/17/2024My First Last of My Kind
Last of My Kind is a medium-bodied cigar. The wrapper is a beautiful, smooth, toothless brown habano. Firm throughout, the cold draw brings notes of youthful grass. Toasting it delivers a razor-sharp burn line. The ash was a lovely white and firm through the first third. Then it kept falling in my lap. Smoke output was above average. Flavor-wise there is slight spice, leather, chocolate. As I proceeded, there came cinnamon. Not much change in the final third. The wrapper burst a bit at the end - probably because I was smoking in the cold. I should have let it acclimate longer before lighting. I rested this cigar for one week prior to smoking it. I will try another after a few weeks and hope to update my review then. Review by PG on 12/21/2023un-freaking-real
Dang it I can't drink any more...but I can still smoke cigars. And I only buy my sticks from Cigar Page. These LOMK's are so awesome I'm gonna buy more so I can age 'em in my wynter humi for a few months or more. You guys are killing it!! All of which are un-freaking-real. Hoo Baby!! Review by careystuart on 12/13/2023Very impressed
Okay, my first order arrived today. Smoked one OTT. That was a newb move by me. Now, many hours later I'm smoking another. Noteworthy things about this LOMK. The wrappers are stunning. So oily, they glisten. The build quality is fantastic. The burn started razor sharp. Then she went goofy on me. At the halfway point, amazingly, it self corrected with no help from my lighter. The ash was a full 3" long when I decided to ash the cigar. The flavor profile is very promising. I know it's not too wise to smoke one right off the truck, so this second one hours later is already vastly better. I'll reserve my full review until these have rested for a few weeks. Meantime, if you're a fan of medium bodied, very flavorful cigars that build in body and flavor as you smoke it, these are a MUST try. Very promising IMHO.
The horns on the bull coming off the main body of the ring and just being out there on their own is a super cool touch guys. That had to be a bear to create and afix so nicely to the cigar. All around very nicely done guys. I'm glad I ordered more so I can age them for a while. Very impressed early on. Review by The Range on 12/13/2023Quick Follow Up
My LOMK's arrived here about 72 hours ago. The first Toro I smoked was written about above. I'd like to add that the next 4 Toros I smoked drew and burnt perfectly. It's still too soon, but I'm going for it anyway.
The flavor profile is pretty great. To my taste they start out in the medium bodied zone with a great deal of flavor. The perfect amount of spice for me. I got pepper, vanilla, nougat, and just a nuance of leather. Thankfully not too much leather, for me that's a deal breaker. Not a single burn issue in the last 4 and all had a stellar rock solid ash. The flavors intensify and multiply as I get just to the half way point. They never get too full bodied for me, which is a good thing. A solid medium plus bodied cigar past the half way point with oodles and gobs of flavors. This is a complex flavor profile, meaning it changes as you smoke the cigar, and presents all kinds of really interesting nuances.
I smoked my first Churchill this morning and I have to say, I like it a notch more than the Toro. These cigars are a very refined and dare I say elegant cigar. They honestly smoke better than a whole lotta 25 to 30 dollar cigars I've smoked over all these decades. This cigar is great with morning coffee and equally at home after a nice man sized hearty meal.
My overall numerical score is a SOLID 95 points. This is without question the best "house brand" cigar I've had in 10 plus years. I'm grateful that CP didn't just throw together a huge full bodied strength bomb. This blend is well thought out and frankly, I'm smoking mine now. The heck with aging them, they're too tasty.
COOL FACTOR: Check out the ring on this cigar. So many cool little touches it really impressed the heck outta me. I b*tched and moaned at Hal about how hard it was to remove the bands from the Penn Standard and Untitled Berserker. Either he listened or they just came up with second level cool stuff on this band. Not only is it easy to remove from the cigar, there's even a tiny little arrow showing dummies like me which direction to pull the little tab to properly remove the ring. I've removed 6 now and they're all in perfect condition. The amount of though that went into the artwork and just the ease of removal is very apparent. I know that doesn't count for much, but to old timers like me, we notice stuff like this.
Last point, these wrappers have to be top notch graded stuff. The oils, the sheen, the quality, it's all there. I love these LOMK. This has the potential to seriously hurt my wallet. SOLID 95 pointer and easily my Cigar of the Year for 2023, hands down. Review by Johnny Bluz on 12/12/2023First for Last of my kind.
I agree with the other review! Johnny Bluz hit the nail on the head. I must say that they are super slow burning, spicey and delicious! Yes a bit of aging will help them out. But I have to say they are pretty strong, which I love. These are just another gem in your crown of exclusives!!!! Review by Carey on 12/12/2023I smoked one, 5 minutes off the truck
It was the LOMK TORO. I've been smoking cigars on the daily for 40 years. You'd think I'd have learned to rest a fresh delivery of cigars for at least 72 hours prior to lighting one, right?
I think all the pre release hype caused me to just cut and light as fast as I could.
First my numerical score is 90 or 4 1/2 stars. These cigars have one of the best looking oily wrappers I've seen this year. The construction is great. Solid, firm, and uniform throughout. The draw was just an 1/8th of a notch too tight. I attribute that to their freshness and my smoking it so soon after delivery. The burn was amazing. It started out great, razor sharp. Then it started to burn unevenly. By the halfway point, it was fairly off. Two amazing things happened at that point. The burn totally self corrected in the next half inch and remained razor sharp all the way to the nub. Even more impressive, the ash was at least 3" long and as solid as a friggen rock. The color was light gray. The ash on a really good cigar usually looks like a stack of dimes to me. On this cigar, it looked like that stack of dimes, only it was super smooth. I decided to ash the cigar at this point.
The flavors are good, but I'm going to reserve much comment until these have rested a bit. To me it starts out medium bodied with a good amount of flavor. That flavor takes on some additional nuances as I got past the half way point. It blossoms into a medium plus bodied cigar by this point as well.
In summary, I smoked it way too soon. These are good now, but in my opinion have a lot of potential to get better with a minimal amount of rest time.
Do they live up to all the hype? Only you can answer that. I can easily recommend these with no hesitation. Just make sure to rest them for a few weeks before trying one. Again for now, a solid 90 or 4 1/2 stars with what I think is a lot of potential. Age worthy for sure. Review by Johnny Bluz on 12/10/2023
