Other guys sell seconds that are about as enjoyable as a wet sweatshirt contest. Wrappers that look like a thousand miles of dirt road, blends that smell like the port-o-johns at a Phish concert, and after effects worse than o consuming a sushi platter from 7-Eleven. Most aren't actually even seconds - they're just newly produced cigars with leftover tobaccos they slap a name on. Not these. Esteli Factory Seconds are firsts in all respects except for cosmetics - draw tested, same blend recipe, same quality tobacco. But rejected during the final color sorting process due to blemishes such as a sun spot here or there. Many of which are imperceptible and don't impact the quality of the smoke. Backtracking one sec.... Esteli, Nicaragua is ground zero for premium cigar goodness. And like Overruns and other unbanded offerings you see at da Page from time to time, these come packed in naked mazos of 20. But unlike Overruns et al, the Esteli Factory Seconds hail from a different factory - and man I wish I could tell you which one but I pinky promised (and signed and NDA) so I can't. Diamonds in the rough! Well-aged, well made, all Nicaraguan long fillers in mostly hearty, classic Habano wrappers with a dusting of a few golden tan Connecticut shade wrapper offerings. Rich flavor, smooth and well balanced, medium in body, full-on enjoyable.
